Hello! My name is Natalia and Travesía Press is my baby and my love letter to bilingual families everywhere.
It was born out of my desire to read stories actually written in our language to my human baby. I wanted stories that weren't translated from English or other languages, and that were not necessarily about our "Latin-ness". I wanted my daughter to immerse herself in our culture, not just read about it. I wanted stories that my little nieces could be reading in Bolivia.
I could not find such books, so here we are.
After lots of research, studying, partnering, and cafecitos with the most amazing authors, illustrators, designers, editors, publishing professors, and other advisors, we created a company focused on publishing stories that cultivate the curiosity, values, and adventurous spirit of little world citizens everywhere.
I was lucky not to have to start from scratch, as my Abuelita Rosa Fernández de Carrasco was a magnificent and highly celebrated children's literature author in my country. Ticotín, one of her amazing stories, sparked this idea and her contacts in literary organizations she helped found decades ago helped me get this dream rolling.

Raising my kids bilingual while living in an English-speaking country is one of the most important and humbling challenges of my life.
We’re here to make that journey easier for other families on the same quest. Here’s what you can expect from us:
- Books that are 100% written, illustrated, and designed in Latin America, by Latin Americans.
- A page highlighting the city where each book was written, so your kids can travel through our books.
- A custom website per book, full of bilingual resources, like author read-alongs, playlists of Spanish songs from each city, and more.
- Stories written in Spanish and never translated from other languages, ever.
- An English translation for vocabulary building (or for that other parent who is still learning)
- A growing collection of titles curated and edited with love.
